This morning we follow the Lea valley through Walthamstow Wetlands, Walthamstow and Hackney Marshes to Hackney Wick. Here we cross the river and make our way to Victoria Park for lunch (picnic, café or, for an extra 1k, the Approach Tavern). The afternoon we follow the Regents Canal and the Thames Path back to Greenwich. This walk is mostly on good paths (not much mud). No need to wear boots.
Meet at station exit. Tottenham Hale is two stops from the end of the Victoria Line. As we will be leaving promptly, if you are a little late go to the Engine House, Walthamstow Wetlands Centre, where we will be stopping for 10 minutes. From the station turn left, in front of the buses, and left again into Ferry Lane. Continue along the road, crossing to rt side at crossroads. The Wetlands are on the rt, opposite the Ferry Boat Inn. See map at entrance.

After 2.5 miles (going out of Charlwood) turn R into Norwood Hill Rd signed Newdigate then L after 300yds into Stan Hill also signed Newdigate. After 2.5 miles turn R at T jctn into Partridge La. Pub is on R after 700yds (opposite red phone box).

Meet on the west side of the green. Approaching Hawkhurst along the A268 from Flimwell, turn right at the traffic lights on the outskirts of Hawkhurst onto the A229. After 0.6miles, opposite a childrens playground on the left, turn right into The Moor. Park around the green or in adjacent streets.

We start with some hills offering fine estuary views, passing the Salvation Army home farm and Hadleigh Castle, then down into Leigh-on-Sea for lunch. We return via Two Tree Island where we will stop briefly to view sea birds on a saline lagoon. We leave via a muddy causeway so boots are a must, and return alongside the creek back to the beginning. Option to return to the start by train from Leigh.
Meet at top of station car park. After Pitsea flyover (A13) keep left & follow A130 to Canvey Island. At r'bt take 1st exit towards Benfleet, follow road past station. At 3rd mini r'bt turn R onto School Lane, CP is on right.

Out via Chested Farm to Chiddingstone, South to Hill Hoath, West on Eden Valley Walk , then South at Lockskinners, on to Pigdown, Meechlands Farm and Oak Wood to Mark Beech (pub/picnic) for lunch. Return through Newtye and Stock Woods to Hill Hoath, Chiddingstone and Vexour Bridge.
Meet Penshurst Station. Park by the woodyard on south side of railway line. The B2027 runs between the station and the pub, The Little Brown Jug. If the LBJ is on your left, continue on and take the first right past the station and then turn sharp right, back on yourself, at the first junction to reach the woodyard. If the LBJ is on your right, you have passed the turning - turn in the station forecourt and follow the directions above.

We zigzag between Kent and Sussex before once again bearing left to Hoath Corner and our lunch stop at The Rock PH. In the afternoon we continue north to Hill Hoath before turning left once more where we pass Hever Castle grounds before making our way back to the station, long morning but short afternoon.

We cross the Bluebell Railway to Highbrook, continuing to Ardingly and then along Ardingly Lake to Balcombe Mill. Lunch (picnic) will be taken before we reach Wakehurst Place. NB There is no pub at lunchtime but we should be able to make a post-lunch stop at the teashop/cafe by the Millennium Seedbank. We find our way back to West Hoathly via Chiddinglye Wood.
Meet Finches Field Car Park. Take the A264 towards Turners Hill. A mile after Turners Hill the road forks. Take the left fork signposted West Hoathly and Sharpthorne. Ignore the first right turn in West Hoathly (signed for the Priests House). On reaching the Fox Inn, turn sharp right. The car park is a little further on the right. If you are approaching from Sharpthorne, fork left at the Fox Inn.

Revisit the wonderful Darent Valley.
