If you are thinking of giving rambling with our group a try then do have a read of the Beginners button on the left.  It will give you an idea of what to expect.

The Post Code for the start point is included for those of you with GPS's but in country districts do not expect it to park your wheel on the Walk Leaders toe, you may have to navigate the last few 100metres yourself.

Windmill and swans

A generally flat walk through woodland and across farmland, via a swan sanctuary and finally through Hornecourt wood to the windmill and our CP. Several stiles.
* travelling W on A25 turn L into Outwood Lane, in Bletchingly. In approx 3miles turn R on gravelled track into CP - opposite windmill

A walk with the London Blind Ramblers

A pleasant walk in association with the London Blind Ramblers incorporating part of a Nature trail used by Charles Darwin and spread over 3 commons.Lunch at Keston Common-picnic or pub,"The Greyhound". A rewarding day out,especially for dog lovers. Optional afternoon tea at Downe Village Hall. We need walking guides to assist with the walk and also to ferry our guests to and from the tea stop.Please contact me if you would like to help.

A leisurely Sunday stroll

A stroll across Keston and Hayes commons. Please only join this walk if you are prepared to walk at a leisurely pace. There are no hills or stiles.

Horses and history

Across parkland, golf course, fields and orchards on Maidstone circular to Langley Green for picnic lunch. Then back via Otham. Lovely views and lots of stiles.
*leave M20 at jct 7 go S on A249 and follow signs to Bearsted Green. Turn R past stn, in front of "Oak on the Green" PH, follow winding lane past church and into CP.

London walk, picnic and afternoon theatre

We will walk through parks and along the Regents Canal to Regents Park in time for a leisurely picnic near the Garden Cafe on the Regents Park Inner Circle soon after 1pm. This is adjacent to the entrance to the Open Air Theatre. At about 2pm those with tickets for the Open Air Theatre will leave to join the 2.30 performance of "Into the Woods" with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Book your own ticket by calling 0844 826 4242 or visiting www.openairtheatre.com. You are of course very welcome to join the walk without going to the theatre or go to the theatre without joining the walk.
*Meet at Victoria Station near to platform 5. Alternatively meet on the 9.40 train from Orpington in the second carriage from the front. Petts Wood 9.43, Bickley 9.47, Bromley South 9.50, Shortlands 9.53, Beckenham Junction 9.56 and Victoria 10.17.

Ups and downs around Tatsfield

Generally rugged terrain with 1 or 2 short hills and about 6 stiles, all to be taken at my usual leisurely pace. Come and enjoy the views

Jack and Jill Went up the Hill

We visit the Chattri Memorial before lunch at The Plough, Pyecombe. In the afternoon we march to the top of Wolstenbury Hill (very steep) and down again.

A Sunday stroll in London

A sedate stroll - look at the Shard of Light progress around Southwark and the Quiet City - finding new lanes and side roads

Leafy Heights

A hilly walk through woods and commons via French Street and Toys Hill to Limpsfield Chart for lunch. We return in the direction of Westerham. 5 miles am., 3 miles pm. Please bring a picnic lunch.
* Travel east from Westerham on A25, turn right onto the B2026 (turning opposite Quebec House). CP on left in approx. 3/4 mile.

Keston to Cudham and back

We pass William Wilberforce's seat, through West Kent golf course and onto picnic/pub lunch in the Blacksmith's Arms at Cudham. Returning past Down Court and Green Hill.
*Meet in Keston Ponds CP. From Bromley take the A21 S and then R onto the A233 - Oakley Road. Continue over cross roads, past Fishponds Rd on the R and the CP is 200 yds on the R.

Dryhill Nature Reserve and Whitley Forest

We walk through Willow wood then Whitley forest then north back to the Nature Reserve. Some low'ish hills and a few styles.
*Meet at entrance end of the car park small fee payable. From A25 through Westerham , Brasted, Sundridge Dryhill is on the right.

A walk through the Syndale Valley

A lovely rural walk through the Syndale Valley via Eastling with lunch at Stalisfield Green. Return via Otterden Place & Doddington. Please bring a picnic.
*Meet outside the Church. Leave M20 at J8, follow A20 towards Lenham. At crossroads turn left into Faversham Rd signed Doddington. Continue until you reach The Street, Newnham. Limited parking available in "The Street" nr The George Inn, so park considerately and car share where possible.

Beautiful Knole Park

We walk into and around Knole Park with a possible ice cream stop at the House. Return to start via Bitchet Green.

A lovely walk from Birchden Wood to Speldhurst

Walk from the car park back through Groombridge Place then on to Speldhurst for lunch pub or picnic. Returning via Langton Green possible tea stop at Burrswood.
*Meet at Car park. Drive through village over railway and take first right (at fork in road). car park is about 200 yards on right.

A bracing walk along the Thames Estuary.

Saxon Shore Way Part 1. We will meet at High Halstow then share cars to drive to Gravesend. We will park in Gravesend in the Car Park in Gordon Promenade East (off Canal Road) near Gravesend Sailing Club (GR is TQ656743 and postcode is DA12 2RR). A packed lunch is essential. There will be a later opportunity for a pub stop in Cliffe or Cooling but not for food. A walk by the Thames in the morning and across open country in the afternoon.
*Leave the M2 at junction 1 and join the A228 signposted Grain. Turn left off the A228 for High Halstow. At the T junction in the village (by the pub) turn right into "The Street" then left into Harrison Drive then left into the small RSPB car park.

Up hill and down dale

A hilly walk towards Otford, along the river towards Shoreham, then via "the millenium path" up hill and down dale back to base.
*CP on R short way along Shacklands Rd (off Badgers Mount r/about)

Tranquil River Scenes

We follow the River Medway to East Farleigh, then through farmland, orchards and the ancient village of Yalding to Twyford Bridge for lunch - pub, tea room, picnic area. We return along the river via Nettlestead. 6.8 miles am., 3.4 miles pm.
*A26 2mls E of Wateringbury. Turn R onto B2163, over level crossing, CP on R before bridge.

Up and down the Darent valley

Walk along by the river to Lullingstone Visitor Centre, then uphill and through woods to Timberden Bottom and Shoreham Ridge, descending to the village and, via the churchyard, back to the station


A pleasant ramble on the edge of Romney Marsh

A pleasant ramble on the edge of Romney Marsh and along the banks of the River Rother to Newenden, with a pub/picnic lunch at Wittersham Village. We return to Tenterden on the Kent & East Sussex Railway (single fare - £7.50).
*Meet in Station CP at the end of Station Road, off High Street, Tenterden (A28).

Chelsfield to Pratts Bottom

A varied walk across farmland, Chelsfield lakes golf course, Pratts Bottom and back to Chelsfield. One fairly steep hill.

Chelsfield Circular

This is the Chelsfield Circular Walk extended to Eynsford. We walk through Chelsfield Green, Goddington Park,Crockenhill and Hulberry Farm to Eysford for pub/picnic lunch. We return via Gables Farm and Crown Wood. A varied walk with some gradual climbs.
*Meet in station car park or approach road. Train from Bromley South 09.18.Change at Orpington for Chelsfield. Check train times and engineering works on the day.

Kentish undulations

An undulating walk towards Godden Green, returning via Ightham Mote and Wilmot Cottage.
* from A25 turn S at Seal towards Godden Green. CP is on L approx. 1 1/2 m after Godden Green before road goes downhill to Underriver

Ightham Mote and Knole Park

A scenic walk via Stone Street and Seal Chart to Godden Green. Take picnic lunch,refreshments available at Godden Green and NT cafe in Knole Park. We return along the Greensand Way to Ightham Mote.
*Meet at NT Car park on minor road S of Ivy Hatch (about 1 1/2 miles S of A25). Park nearest to CP entrance and away from the house.

A wander through the ancient town of Lewis and spectacular views from Malling Down

In the morning we follow the River Ouse to Lewis via Barcombe CH,Hamsey and Lewis Castle for lunch stop at Cliffe with a choice of three pubs. After lunch we make our way up to Malling Down Nature Reserve with spectacular views over Lewis and the surrounding countryside and then make our way via Week Lane and Little Norlington to CP.
*CP Pikes Bridge. If travelling south from Uckfield to Lewis take A26 from Little Horsted roundabout and after about four miles turn right just after a garage at Clayhill signposted Barcombe. CP on right after about 3/4 mile down lane.

Ightham Mote to Godden Green

Walk, at a leisurely pace, to Godden Green and back via Stone St. Sandra's tea and cakes at end!
*park in NT CP furthest from house

Wadhurst to Mayfield through the Rother valley

To Mayfield for lunch , via Buttons, and the Rother Valley. Returning via Tidebrook. Some hills.
*Meet CP opposite the church.

In Charles Dicken's footsteps

The marshland adjacent to the Thames Estuary inspired Charles Dicken's novel Great Expectations. This walk takes in a landscape rich in both history and wildlife. Along the way is a Bronze Age Barrow, the remains of a 19th century fort and the pretty church of St Mary's


Down, and back up, the Greensand Ridge.

Via French Sreet to Staffhurst Wood for lunch (The Royal Oak), returning via Limpsfield Chart. Some hills.
*C.P. on the B.2026 south of Westerham.

1066 countryside

Pleasant easy walking country, no hard steep gradients.
*On A259 W of Winchelsea. Meet by recreation ground, but please DO NOT park here, as locals are very intolerant of strangers using this CP and not using the recreation ground. Park on roadside/layby

Stately Homes and an Ancient Pub

A few climbs, with plenty of open countryside and good views.Out via Godden Green and Ightham Mote. Pub/picnic lunch at Dunk's Green and return via Shipbourne and Greensand Way.
*Meet in car park on Buckhurst Lane, off Sevenoaks High Street.

A Fish, an Axe and an Elephant walk

An undulating walk with a few stiles. We pass a house names after a fish, a man with an axe and a house guarded by an elephant.
*park near entrance. Take A25 westwards at Riverhead, about 1/2 mile past Bessels Green, Dryhill is on L. Coming from Westerham, go through Brasted & Sundridge, Dryhill is on R.

Shoreham Valley

WE walk to visitors centre then uo into woods and through fields to Timberden Bottom. Then along terrace above Shoreham to Otford for lunch (pub,picnic or tea room). Return via cricket pitch, Shoreham Golf Course & Darent Valley Path.
*Turn R into Shoreham from A225 (by station), go through village, over bridge and turn L at end. Free CP is signposted 100 yards on L.

A chance to see the delights of Surrey countryside

We walk initially N through the heath, then westward along the North Downs Way, South to Brockham (pub/picnic lunch) and eastward to Skimmington. A few gradients, but the views are worth it (and no chance of flooding this time!)
*Leave Reigate on A25 towards Dorking and after ½ mile turn L into Flanchford Road. CP in woods after terrace of houses.

Westerham to Chartwell

From Westerham we follow the Greensand Way to a nice tea stop at Chartwell. Return through woods.

Buckland, Betchworth & Brockham

A walk through the three pretty villages under Box Hill. From the summit we descend along the North Downs Way to Buckland, then to Betchworth for lunch (picnic or pub). We return through Brockham and the woods of Betchworth Park , up Boxhill Road to the top once more.
*Meet in the NT CP at the summit (pay & display for non-members)

A leisurely walk in the Darent Valley

A leisurely walk along the River Darent and across fields to Lullingstone Visitor Centre. No hills, a few stiles.
*Meet at Filston Lane CP

One Tree Hill to Dunk's Green

East along the Greensand Way to Ightham Mote, then round the north of Plaxtol to The Kentish Rifleman at Dunk's Green for a pub or picnic lunch. Back via Shipbourne and Absalom's Farm. A few hills.
*Meet at Start Point. At Seal turn southwards from the A25 in the direction of Underriver. After just over 2 miles you will find the car park on the left.

Orchards, parkland and streams

A very pretty walk through Dunks Green, Rough Way, Plaxtol Village and Fairlawne Park. Orchards, parkland and streams, with good views. A few stiles and some uphill climbs, taken gently.
*Park in Upper Green Rd, opp church

Ashurst to Cowden with a few hill inbetween

The walk proceeds past Bolebrook Castle, through Holtye Golf Course to lunch at Cowden. In the afternoon we join the Sussex Border Path just south of Bassetts Farm for our return to Ashurst Station. Varied countryside with a few hills.
*From A264 turn into Ashurst Station car park.

A town and country walk

A town and country walk west of Knole Park on undulating footpaths between residential roads, fields and woodland.
*Follow signs to leisure centre, Suffolk Way. Meet in top rh corner of CP. No fee on Sunday

A lovely circular walk from Penshurst Place.

A circular walk from Penshurst Place to Salmans to Nashes Farm back to Penshurst Place. Lovely views of the Greensand Hills and the beech woods should be in beautiful colour at this time of year. We will be back at Penshurst Place in time for a picnic or pub/cafe lunch.
*Please meet and park in the lay-by on the B2176 400m north of village centre.

An energetic walk on the South Downs

An energetic walk on the South Downs with superb views all round, via Castle Hill Nature Reserve to Kingston for pub/picnic lunch.
*From A27, turn S at Falmer on B2123. Meet in the CP on the L just before Woodingdean. It's easy to miss, but situated before the first building to be seen in Woodingdean. Or, park in adjacent roads - Bexhill Road/Langley Crescent.

Walk via Otford Manor to Rising Sun and back. Hills taken at a leisurely pace. Sandra's tea and cakes at end.

A circular walk from Ightham Mote

We shall be stopping at the Chaser, Shipbourne for Pub/picnic lunch which is roughly the half way point. Very good views and some autumn colours. Hopefully NT tea when we get back.
*Meet in NT CP which is on the minor road S of Ivy Hatch (about 1.5miles S of A25). Please park nearest to CP entrance and away from the house.

A walk with afternoon tea

A walk with easy uphill sections and no stiles. We will stop for tea at the Green Roof Cafe at High Elms near the end of the walk. Pls only join us if you are happy to walk at a leisurely pace.

The Wrath of Wrotham!

We explore the hills and valleys north of the North Downs above Wrotham. Ater a very steep climb at the start, the route drops in and out of several valleys before dropping dramatically via the North Downs escarpment, back to Wrotham. Lunch at the Green Man in Hodsall Street.

A walk in Kent with fine views some hills

Quite a hilly walk with many fine views (weather permitting). An early lunch, pub or picnic,in Speldhurst. Returning via Penshurst.
*Meet on the western side of the village green opposite the church. Turn off A21 south of Sevenoaks onto B245(towards Hildenborough). At Watts Cross turn R to Leigh. After 1 mile R again on to B2027.

A River Eden Walk

From the car park, we walk westwards crossing the River Eden and passing Wat Stock Farm. Turning N, we head for Chiddingstone and its street of Tudor (NT) houses. We cross the River Eden a couple more times and return to Penshurst

A linear walk from Keston to Westerham

A linear walk via Wilberforce, Luxted and South Street, with pub/picnic lunch at the Tally Ho, then along the North Downs Way to Westerham.

Knockholt and beyond

A circular walk across fields, through the churchyard and along the North Downs Way. No steep hills, but some high stiles.

Autumn stroll to Charcott

Westwards on Greensand Way before turning south via FaulknersHill Farm and Little Sidcup to Charcott for lunch (pub/picnic). Shorter afternoon returning northwards.

A leisurely walk never far from water!

We walk via Powder Mills & Leigh to Charcott for pub/picnic lunch, then we head for the Eden Valley Walk and Haysden Lake.
*From A21 take the A26 into Tonbridge, turn L into Brook Street & follow directional signs to the Country Park. CP fee (currently £2.40).

Darwin and Wilberforce Country

A circular, undulating walk, passing through Keston, High Elms and Downe, for pub/picnic lunch at Cudham. Return via back of Downe House and Garden.
*Meet in Car Park. Toilets available. From Bromley, take Westerham Road (A233). As you get to Leaves Green Common, turn right into Ashmore Lane, leading to CP.

Back in time for fireworks!

A brisk walk towards Cudham and Downe on varied footpaths. Lovely views and some steep ups and downs.

A pleasant afternoon walk with one hill

A walk across the golf course, climbing to Seal Chart and returning via Great Roger's Wood, one hill taken at a steady pace, this will be a pleasant afternoon walk.
* turn off A25 at Seal. Meet opp Bucks Head PH

Hosey Common to Limpsfield Chart, Churchill Country

We walk via French Street and Crockham Hill for lunch in Limpsfield Chart. We return via Moorhouse Bank, Kent Hatch and Westerham. Some hills.
*From Westerham, take the B 2026 towards Chartwell. CP is 3/4 mile on L.

AGM Walk around Farnborough

This walk will follow the route of the Farnborough Circular. Walking anticlockwise we will visit Holwood Farm and the Wilberforce Oak, continuing to Keston Ponds. Turning east through woodland, we will return to Farnborough for this year's Bromley Ramblers AGM.


Circular walk via Speldhurst

A circular walk to Speldhurst using parts of the Weald Way , Sussex Border Path and the High Weald Way clockwise. We pass through Langton Green,Fordecombe,Stone Cross and Burrswood.
*Meet in CP From Westerham take B2026 to Hartfield then turn L onto B2110. At Groombridge take RH turn at fork. After 4 miles pass public CP and station on LHS. After station take RH fork. R turn into CP after 200 m.

An Autumn walk over fields, through woods, along country lanes.

An undulating walk through fields, trees and with a little road walking. Via Halstead. Some stiles but good views.
*Meet on Green opp Bulls Head PH

A walk in Winnie the Pooh country, then passing remains of old watermills,aqueduct and walking over a old packhorse bridge.

In the morning we make our way through Winnie The Pooh countryside with good views via Wren's Waren,Friar's Gate,Summersales Farm with lunch stop at The Coopers Arms at St John's on the outskirts of Crowborough. After lunch we return via Bunker's Hill, Old Mill Farm, King's Standing
*Meet Four Counties CP Ashdown Forest. If travelling south from Hartfield take B2026 across the forest and after about three miles pass road from Coleman's Hatch, then after about a further 300yds CP will be on the right.

If you like hills, this is for you - there are several, taking in Shoreham, Romney Street, Kemsing and Otford. Picnic or pub lunch in one of the hostelries in Otford.

Late Autumn in the Darent Valley

A moderately easy walk along the Darent Valley and through the golf course to Home Farm, then steep uphill to Meenfield Wood. Through Pilots Wood, with good views as we return via Sepham Farm and the River Darent.

A colourful autumn walk

A hilly morning walk with beautiful views via Underriver and Ightham Mote. Lunch at the "Chaser" if any one is interested.

A fine figure of 8 taking in Godstone and Oxted

A repeat of my walk in April 2009. A figure of eight starting from Tandridge with lunch in or near the Barley Mow. We will take in Godstone and Oxted as well during the day

Sleepy Dormansland?

A very pleasant walk through lush countryside. No stiles. Can be shortened in inclement weather.
*Take B2028 S of Edenbridge towards Lingfield, approx 2.5m from Marsh Green. Meet in Ford Manor Lane on L at bend in rd next to Plough Inn. Park considerately in lane and beware grassy ditch!

Late Autumn Colours

From Scotney we walk through Kilndown on through farmland to Bewl Water. No pub but the visitor centre can provide refreshments for those that want it. Our return is again on farmland, lanes and woods.
*Meet in car park, A21 to Lamberhurst then follow sign posts for Scotney Castle

Sundridge Park and Green Chain Walk

A two hour walk around Sundridge Park Golf Course and part of the Green Chain Walk. No stiles, some inclines and some pavement walking.
* nr Grove Park station. Meet by pavilion (just inside entrance) in Amblecote Road where Sunday parking permitted but not on double yellow lines (signs confusing !) Buses 261 or 126 to Grove Park station.
